Introduction
Pineapple Drawing can be difficult and intimidating, especially if you’re new to it, but with the right tools and approach, it’s not as difficult as you might think! Check out these step-by-step instructions on how to draw pineapple step by step and start pineapple drawing today!
Basic Shape of Pineapple
Draw a circle for the base of the pineapple. Make sure the circle is nice and round, otherwise you’ll end up with an oddly shaped pineapple.
Draw four lines coming out from one point on the center of the circle to resemble a leaf or petal shape.
Add three smaller circles in between each line.
Fill in those small circles with smaller circles so they look like little bumps.
Lastly, add some texture to the bottom half by making two small curved lines and then adding some wavy squiggly shapes. You’ve now drawn a pineapple!
Add detail to the leaves
We are now going to add detail to the leaves. Take a pencil and start to draw on the top of the pineapple where you will see some lines already drawn. Draw four leaves. We want to make sure that when we do this, they are all connected with each other and go down at an angle so they can look like they are sticking out from the fruit.
It should be easy enough if you take your time, but be careful not to smudge your drawing!
Shade Your Pineapple Fruit
Use a light touch to shade the fruit. Remember that if you look at the pineapple from the top, it will be dark towards the bottom and lighter at the top. If you look at it from the side, it will be darker on one side than on the other (unless your drawing is symmetrical). Don’t forget to add shading for the outer edges of the leaves too.
Add Facial Features – Optional
In the next step, we will add some facial features to our pineapple drawing. The first thing we will do is draw a circle for the pineapple’s head and then make an oval shape for the mouth. Next, draw two half circles on either side of the head to represent ears. Draw a small line inside each ear and then add an eye on top of each one. You can also draw a nose in between the eyes and a curved line as the mouth below that.
Final Tip
If you follow this guide step by step, you will have a realistic pineapple drawing in no time. Keep in mind that the goal is to create a work of art, so don’t be afraid to experiment with colors and lines. Have fun!

Important Points to be careful of while drawing Pineapple
- Start with a basic sketch
Before you start drawing the details of the pineapple, it’s important to start with a basic sketch. This will help you to get the proportions and overall shape of the fruit just right. Begin by drawing a simple oval shape for the body of the pineapple and a smaller oval shape for the top of the fruit.
- Pay attention to the details
Pineapples have a lot of unique details that make them instantly recognizable. From the rough texture of the skin to the spiky leaves on top, there are a lot of little details that you’ll want to include in your drawing. Take your time and pay close attention to the reference image you’re using to make sure you capture all of these details accurately.
- Use shading to create depth
One of the key elements that will bring your pineapple drawing to life is shading. By using different shades of pencil or pen, you can create the illusion of depth and texture in your drawing. Focus on creating shadows in the areas where the fruit curves and use lighter shading in areas where the fruit is more exposed to light.
- Experiment with different styles
While there are certainly some standard ways to draw a pineapple, don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles and techniques. Try drawing a stylized pineapple with bold lines and bright colors, or use watercolors to create a softer, more realistic look. The more you experiment, the more you’ll learn about your own artistic style and preferences.
